The speech by the OSCE PA President, Giorgi Tsereteli at the sitting of the Permanent Council

The Member of Parliament, the OSCE PA President, Giorgi Tsereteli attends the Permanent Council sitting in Vienna and delivered the speech calling on the member states to ensure effective functioning of OSCE.

“We live in a unstable time, where security needs to be on daily-basis restored. We see the increased anxiety amongst the citizens. Simultaneously to liberal democracy values, we see racism, xenophobia, aggressive nationalism and populism and how these challenges can be addressed without OSCE? Let’s with our joint efforts continue enhancement of the organization and ensure its effectiveness”.

He confirmed support to cooperation the PA with the executive body of the organization and spoke about importance of OSCE mission involvement in field operations.

“Being Georgian, I can confirm particular importance of OSCE mission, which unfortunately is closed in my country when the situation was particularly tensed due to unsolved conflict. Restoration of OSCE mission in my country is particularly important as it can render efficient aid as to the affected population so to the country as a whole”.

The Permanent Council is the body making the main decisions on political consultations and activity of OSCE.
