The Statement by the Speaker

Statement 24 თებერვალი 2015

 

In line with the Organic Law on “Common Courts” and under the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament: the CONTEST for 1 member of the High Council of Justice by the Parliament of Georgia shall commence on February 24, 2015.

The Parliament may elect the Georgian citizen as the member of the HCJ, with high legal education with the Master’s degree or academic degree/higher education diploma equalized thereto, with no less than 10 years of vocational experience, high reputation and who is the recognized specialist of the law sphere. The Member of the Parliament, the Judge or the Prosecutor shall not be nominated to the hereof position.

The candidates shall be selected amongst the professors and researchers in Universities, Members of the Bar and/or amongst the persons, nominated by the Non-commercial legal entities on the basis of the recommendation issued by the relevant collective agency. The University, the Bar of Georgia, NCLEs are authorized, in line with the Organic Law on “Common Courts” and under the Rules of Procedure, to nominate no more than 3 candidates to the Parliament till March 10, 2015 inclusive.

NCLE is authorized to nominate the candidate if during the last 2 years prior to call of the contest, one of the spheres of activity thereof was implementation of representative authorities in the court proceedings. Nomination of the candidate shall be attached with the letter of reference, the labor biography of the candidate, the copy of the passport or ID, the copies of the certificates of no less than 10 years of professional experience and the copy of the University diploma, the list of the works published concerning the court cases (if such), the written consent of the candidate and if he/she is nominated by the NCLE – the document certifying that one of the spheres of activity thereof was implementation of representative authorities in the court proceedings.
