The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Akaki Zoidze estimated the Parliamentary activity for 2018 noting that 2018 was the special year for development of Parliamentary democracy: “The new Constitution and the new Rules of Procedure equipped the Parliament with the new effective tools for improvement of the legislative and oversight activity. These documents also clearly outlined the third Constitutional responsibility of the parliament – endorsement of the main directions of policy”.
Speaking about development of the action plan of the Committee, A. Zoidze noted that the plan envisages the long-term vision of addressing the challenges.
Currently, the Committee works on the initiatives echoed by Georgian Dream. “Significant reforms are scheduled in health and social protection and we want to approve it in the form of concept. The essence of the reform is to improve health state of the population and eradication of poverty, as well as reduction of costs for medicines”.
