Yesterday, the Speaker responded to the Committee hearing in the US Senate considering Georgia. According to him, the Committee gave a proper estimation of the progress of the country.

“We hail the strong support expressed by the Senate to Georgia. At the Committee sitting, presided by Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the Senators gave a proper estimation of the progress of Georgia and attached attention to the challenges. As it was clearly noted, Georgia, under the governance of the “Georgian Dream” is a reliable ally and partner to the West and never deviates from the pro-Western course; as noted, according to the OSCE/ODIHR assessment, the Parliamentary Elections were held by adherence to the fundamental rights, in a competitive environment and the opposition shall enter the Parliament and join its activity.

The Senators stated that boycotting the Parliament and blocking the political process serves the Russian interests. As it was clearly noted, the political leaders shall respect the law and breach of the law cannot be approved. Against the background of the geopolitical changes in the region, pandemic-related problems and economic complications, Georgia keeps the reforming in close cooperation with the international partners and backed by them”, - the Speaker stated.
