The Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Beka Odisharia and the First Deputy to the Committee Chair, Givi Chichinadze participated in the meeting held at the ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the parties discussed the possibilities of providing assistance to the Georgian citizens currently staying abroad.
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Natia Sulava, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikheil Ninua, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Tabatadze, and Mukhran Gulagashvili - Director of the Department for Relations with the Diaspora participated in the meeting.
The Foreign Affairs Minister, Davit Zalkaliani reported on the implemented and ongoing activities. The meeting was convened in reference to the specific data and statistics on the activities carried out, as well as activities scheduled within the framework of the Coordinating Council. The parties identified a number of issues, including the need for the two structures - the legislature and the executive - to work together and create joint platforms that will make it easier for our compatriots living abroad to access certain services.
“The information platforms that are to be set up will make medical consultations available, as well as the services offered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be made accessible to our fellow citizens living abroad. We also talked about the possibility of returning them to their homeland and in the near future a relevant schedule will be published, which will be communicated to them by all means, be it on TV or social networks”, - Beka Odisharia said post hoc the meeting.
