Members of the Committee inspected the ongoing repair and rehabilitation works at the Enguri hydropower plant, where they visited the Enguri Dam, pressure tunnel, main access channel, and the electromechanical and hydromechanical.
The rehabilitation of the Enguri HPP at a total cost of 48 mln EURO has been completed and the HPP will be operational at full capacity in May.
According to the Chairman of the Committee, Davit Songhulashvili, the rehabilitation of the Enguri HPP is an important factor for the independence of our country and the development of the economy.
"I would like to note that one of the determinants of the country's independence is energy independence, and it is the Enguri HPPs that will give us the opportunity to maintain this independence and strengthen the country's economy”, - D. Songhulashvili stated.
David Narmania, Chairman of the Georgian Energy Regulatory Commission, and David Tvalabeishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development also visited the Enguri HPP rehabilitation works together with the MPs.
