“We cannot recall any certain episode of his 5-year activity, where the President acted as the unifier, though on the contrary, there were the cases when the President played the role of the divider and the initiator of the confrontation, which is a very characteristic feature of the President during his 5-year activity”, - the Speaker stated when assessing the speech.
He noted that the President has finally become the opposition and he even have isolated from the certain opposition parties upon the developments related to the pardons. “Let me reiterate that the President was not a unifier of our system during these 5 years. Moreover, we cannot recall any episode of his 5-year activity when the President played the role of the unifier but on the contrary, he played the role of the divider and the initiator of the confrontation, which is a very characteristic feature of the President during his 5-year activity. The President finally became the opposition and he even have isolated from the certain opposition parties upon the developments related to the pardons and became the President of the National Movement and the Alliance of Patriots solely, which is deplorable. Once again, he should be the unifier of the society, which is his Constitutional role and the function”.
Unfortunate sign of his activity was so-called arguments about estimation of the Presidential speech. The Speaker touched upon the debates under the Rules of Procedure stating that the Parliamentary Secretary of the President, Ana Natsvlishvili attended the consideration of the procedure at the Bureau and she never expressed any remark. It is an additional argument revealing that the President needed only the reason to leave the hall.
“Deplorable sign of his activity was so-called arguments. This term is unfortunately often used in our society when dealing with the relations with the President and today, his action was a continuation of this practice. I will briefly touch upon the nuances related to the President leaving the hall. We have the procedure of debates established under the Rules of Procedure, and it was considered at the Bureau attended by the Parliamentary Secretary of the President, Ana Natsvlishvili who has not expressed any remark regarding the procedure. Correspondingly, it is an additional argument revealing that the President needed the reason to leave the hall. He dislikes discussions and debates, he dislikes to hear the different opinion, as he has many times confirmed it and even today, his action was yet another confirmation of this fact”.
