The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze met with the Ambassador of Germany to Georgia, H.E. Hubert Knirsch to discuss the future cooperation prospects in the direction of environmental protection and natural resources.
M. Bitadze estimated the meeting as successful and important.
"Our countries’ long-term cooperation has shown how Germany assists Georgia in fulfilling its commitment under the Association Agreement.
We discussed ongoing projects under which the German Government has provided significant assistance in terms of protected areas and forestry management. We talked about the future prospects of cooperation, including in the field of urban environmental issues", - M. Bitadze commented after the meeting.
According to her, the parties also focused on environmental issues in the cities and the future prospects of the green economy. They talked about the legislative changes that may be implemented to create incentives for the introduction of the best environmental technologies in production.
