Meeting of Members of Faction “Independent Members of Parliament” with Members of PACE Monitoring Committee

The Chair of the Faction "Independent MPs" Mariam Jashi and the Faction Member Levan Koberidze met with the delegation of the Monitoring Committee of PACE. The Parties discussed the electoral reform, importance of the agreement reached between the Government and the opposition and the issues of its implementation.

"The focal point of the meeting with the Co-rapporteur of the Monitoring Committee was the Parliamentary Elections 2020 and the agreement between the Government and the opposition, with the support of the diplomatic corps. The meeting emphasized not only the importance of this agreement, but also the need for its full implementation and fulfillment. The CoE will closely monitor progress in implementing the agreement and also hopes that the pre-election process will proceed in a calm and normalized milieu. We believe that the 2020 elections will be a test for Georgia's democracy and independence", - Mariam Jashi remarked.

According to the Chair of the Faction, the Faction foregrounded the issue regarding the recent developments in relation to Adjara TV. As she noted, the faction is committed to analyze current processes in the light of the legal and public interest.
