The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Sophio Katsarava participated in the Discussion “Georgia and the EU – Looking for a Common Vision for the EaP” organized by the Heinrich Boell Foundation Tbilisi Office.
The Discussion was dedicated to importance of the EaP for the member states, the current stage of the initiative and the directions Georgia and the EU are being developed, as well as the possible vision for Georgia and the EU.
S. Katsarava dwelt on EaP importance as an effective instrument with tangible outcomes for Georgian population. She stressed the role of Georgia as of the leader country within the EaP.
“Eastern Partnership is a very important initiative bringing tangible outcomes for the member states and their people and we clearly envision this outcome. We have achieved high progress during 10 years and fairly gained the status of the leader country. At the next stage, we need a clear European perspective from our European partners to allow Georgia achieve its ultimate goal – EU integration”, - she noted.
The public discussion has been held within the Heinrich Boell Foundation format “Boell Talks” attended by Manuel Sarrazin - Member of Bundestag, and Korneli Kakachia – Director of the Georgian Institute of Politics.
The discussion was moderated by the Head of Heinrich Boell Foundation, Stefan Meister.
