The member of the Parliamentary Delegation to PACE, Deputy Chair of the Sports and Youth Issues Committee Tamar Taliashvili participated in the PACE Committee on Equality and Non-discrimination discussing the enhancement of women in political and public lives, mitigation of discrimination on a social basis, security and justice challenges for women and their participation in peace-keeping processes.
The agenda also included the equality issues for 2021 related to the World Democratic Forum and concerning the challenges so acute for Georgia – equality, democracy and environmental protection.
“The PACE Equality Committee is a very important platform for CoE 47 member states to discuss human rights, gender equality etc. I had the honor to participate in the campaign initiated by the PACE Social-Democrats political group “Rights of Women are Human Rights”. The Committee also discussed other issues and its decisions will further enhance women and girls opting to be actively engaged in public and political lives. Besides, it will serve as a motivation for them to further be educated and proceed to their career. The Committee also strives to eliminate the violation against women”, - T. Taliashvili noted.
