The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Akaki Zoidze met with the representatives of the US Pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the Head of the Medical Direction in Eastern Europe, Michael Hodik.
The parties discussed the legislative changes on tobacco control in Georgia. The guests asked about the initiatives and activities of the Committee and approved the campaign against smoking. As noted, medicines facilitating people to quit smoking shall be accessible and cheap and free for the socially vulnerable groups. Champix by Pfizer is one of such means.
The parties discussed opportunities for joint projects aiming at requalification of the doctors serving the mental aid for the people willing to quit smoking.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chair Levan Koberidze, as well as the representatives of the Ministry of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection, National Center for Disease Control and Public Health and US Embassy.
