The Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Beka Odisharia and the First Deputy Givi Chichinadze held the meeting with the representatives of Georgian Historical Diaspora organizations and the scientific circles of Turkey.
The meeting was attended by Vazha Malakmadze (Gurcan Hayriyoglu) – Association of Georgian Culture of Hayriye; Giorgi Iremadze (Semsettin Iyem) – founder of Istanbul Georgian Art House, businessman, publicist; Merab Putkaradze (Mehmet Seval) – Caucasian Folk and Culture Society of İnegöl; Rozeta Gujejiani – historian, ethnologist, professor; Head of the Ethnology Department of St. Andrew the First-called Georgian University; Ketevan Khutsishvili – TSU Professor; as well as the Chair of the Defense and Security Committee, Irakli Sesiashvili.
MPs noted that intensification of links with Georgian Diasporas abroad is a priority, as well as facilitation to maintenance of Georgian identity and cultural origin, promotion of Georgian Diasporas worldwide and enhancement of positive image of Georgia.
The representatives of historical diaspora dwelt on activity of Georgian Communities in Turkey, their role in maintenance of the language and culture and expressed the will to increase engagement of the youth from diaspora in Anaklia Future Camp.
The parties discussed the educational-cognitive projects for Diasporas with participation of Georgian scientists and pedagogues. B. Odisharia thanked the guests for their time and delivered the memorable gifts on behalf of the Committee.
