The Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, Irakli Kovzanadze and the Deputy Chair, Paata Kvizhinadze held the meeting with the Auditor General, Irakli Mekvabishvili, the representative of the EU project “Capacity Building of the State Audit Service”.

The parties touched upon EU scheduled events: increase of independence of SAS, effective control of budget assets and enhancement of Parliamentary oversight. As noted, improved legislation is necessary for efficiency of SAS, requiring facilitation to public finance management reform.

The EU-funded project covers 2 years and was launched in May, 2017. The project is supervised by GFA Consulting Group GmbH and GIZ.
