The Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Commttee and the Chair of the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee met with the US Congress House Democracy Partnership Delegation.
The parties discussed the Constitutional reform and the changes to the Rules of Procedure in view of enhancement of the Parliamentary oversight, human rights reform and sharing American experience.
“Support of our American friends and American people to the reforms we undertake in human rights direction is paramount. Sharing their experience for enhancement of the Parliamentary oversight is a step forward. Within the Constitutional reform and the Rules of Procedures reform, we strive to enhance the Parliamentary oversight. When we declared that we are the Parliamentary Republic, we shall as well ensure due quality of the Parliamentary oversight. At present, we have no respective leverage and thus, create hereof mechanisms step by step and involvement of our American partners and sharing their experience is of utmost importance as America has the long-term and rich experience of the Parliamentary oversight”, - S. Kiladze stated.
“USA is the state with effective oversight mechanisms on the Government members. The House Democracy Partnership members provided the information about US practice in this term. Besides, we discussed the changes to the Rules of Procedure directed to enhancement of the Parliamentary oversight on the executive authority. In this context, we exchanged the opinions with our partners”, - G. Kakhiani stated.
