The Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, Roman Kakulia held the online meeting with the Head of the Eurasia Division in the OECD Global Relations Secretariat, William Tompson to discuss the new pandemic reality as a trigger of the new challenges for the petty and average business requiring the new knowledge and new instruments for the solution.
“We discussed the current formats of cooperation with OECD and active engagement of the Ministry of Economy. We agreed on intensification of the cooperation of the various Committees, including the Investment Committee with the Georgian state structures to address the new coronavirus-entailed reality as an impediment for the petty and average business, namely the current instruments cannot ensure the close distanced solution of the poverty. It requires new instruments and new skills. We also agreed on the program document of the country developed under the OECD aegis and by this document, we will try to reflect the new reality. Cooperation with OECD is of particular importance. We cooperate with various international organizations but in terms of the economic policy and the vision, OECD is paramount as it cooperates in the part of the policy determination with countries like Georgia. Their experience has been generalized and converted into a certain recommendation for us and it was discussed at the online meeting today”, - R. Kakulia noted.
