The Faction “Georgian Dream – Industrials” initiated the Scientific-Students Conference “Eastern Partnership – Georgia and European Union” dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the EaP.
The Chair of the Faction, Simon Nozadze opened the Conference with introduction of the brief history of Georgia-Europe centuries-old relations and emphasized progress of Georgia within EaP.
“The scale of the Conference and interest of the youth makes me hope that we are on a right path. Georgia may encounter some impediments but still keeps the right path to the outlined goal. EaP was formed in a very important time – the period when Georgia had an acute need of political, economic and moral support of the friends – I mean August 2008 events. Preparation for full-fledged EU membership has already started and I have the pleasure to state that Georgia is one of the key leaders of EaP and the program. I assure you, soon Georgia will take place amongst the world leading countries with your help – help of youth. Your talent and nature allows Georgian being an extremely successful country”, - he noted.
We have started relationship with EU and approximation to its values centuries ago.
“We have significantly progressed in economic cooperation. Georgian people establish their place at the economic market. As to the human rights, we can compare the current situation to the situation 20-25 years ago. We achieved significant progress in this sphere as well with the uniform attitude of the Government and the people – we are Europeans, the part of the European culture, we know our history and attach high importance to human rights protection”.
The Conference agenda was diverse covering economic policy, transport infrastructure, energy safety etc. Irakli Gabelia spoke about energy safety; the Professor Shota Dogonadze touched upon the way to Europe, and the Professor Tatia Dolidze spoke about the EaP – challenges and achievements; the Professor Gocha Ochigava’s speech was dedicated to better governance and capacity building; and the Doctor of Sciences, Secretary General of the Faction’s Staff, Besik Oboladze spoke about security within EaP.

The reports on EaP 20 deliverables were also delivered by the students Irina Mikava, Natia Blagidze and Levan Sichinava. The background of the reports was the fact that EU-Georgia relationship counts centuries and our past was European and hence, future will be European as well.
“These 10 years have revealed that we are on the right path. As noted, 35% export growth is a good achievement. Our opportunities in export of agricultural and energy products are higher. We can as well successfully cooperate in innovations and these opportunities are in the hands of our youth” – S. Nozadze noted.
The commendation certificates have been delivered to the students.
