The Capital of Azerbaijan hosts the OSCE PA organized Conference “Role of the Members of Parliaments in Enhancement of Economic Cooperation and Cultural Relations to Support Silk Road”.
Up to 100 delegates from 22 countries, Government representatives and experts will discuss the safe milieu in the region and economic and cultural benefit of the silk road development.
The OSCE PA President, Gigi Tsereteli addressed the delegates stating that the Silk Road always was more than only trade and trade links. “The Silk Road throughout Eurasia has created the solid foundation for relation between the countries and extended their cooperation scopes. During history, this project in Central Asia, Caucasus and South-East Europe facilitated to development of the directions, such are: transport, energy safety and border cooperation. The Silk Road against isolation is one of the effective instruments and is the project gaining economic and cultural benefit and facilitating to sustainable security environment between the countries”.
He spoke about importance of international projects and noted that Georgia has significantly contributed in modernization of international transport infrastructure meriting in Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad, which will benefit to the Georgian population as well.
The Conference was attended by the Majority Leader, Archil Talakvadze and MP, Ramaz Nikolaishvili.
