The Member of Parliament OSCE PA President Giorgi Tsereteli delivered the speech at the South-East European Geo-political Forum in the US Senate and spoke about the current challenges – terrorism, radicalization, corruption and organized crime and underlined the role of USA in addressing these problems.
Support of USA and NATO to Balkan countries shall be further enhanced, he stated and their EU integration will be the due step to reduce Russian influence in the region. He spoke about South-East European countries and OSCE relations and noted that in terms of rule of law and democratic development, OSCE actively cooperates with Balkan Governments. He touched upon the situation in South Caucasus, security issues on the occupied territories of Georgia and the challenges in the region.
During his visit to USA, G. Tsereteli met with the Senator Jim Inhofe, Congressman Robert Aderholt and the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Peter Marocco. He held the meetings with the Helsinki Commission members, IRI and NDI representatives to discuss ongoing processes in Georgia.
