EuroNest 8th Bureau Sitting to be Held in Tbilisi
Tamar Khulordava participated in the Euronest Bureau Sitting in Kiev.
Euronest has two new Co-Presidents: - MEP Andrius Kubilius and MP Ivan Krulko from Ukraine’s Rada.
The Bureau discussed the reforms carried out in the EaP countries and the results achieved therefrom.
“As for the reforms implemented in Georgia, one of the major achievements is the adoption of a new Parliamentary regulation which has fundamentally amended the legislative activities, took the parliamentary oversight to a new level and, most importantly, increased public involvement in legislative work. Active work on constitutional amendments related to electoral system reform is underway and significant novelties are also scheduled in the judiciary, where structural changes have taken place and judicial reform is underway with the active public participation”, - Tamar Khulordava noted.
The Bureau members discussed the future plans of the Assembly and dwelt upon the preparatory works for the EuroNest Plenary Session.
Tamar Khulordava initiated discussions on the EaP future visions at the Bureau Sitting.
“Amid the 10th anniversary of the EaP, the Parliament of Georgia has prepared a resolution, which needs to be elaborated by the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and then followed with adoption of a joint document defining the future of the EaP. It is important to adopt the document before the EaP Summit, which will be held in May 2020”, - Tamar Khulordava commented.
The Bureau supplemented the agenda for the December 8-10 Plenary Session, which will be hosted by the Parliament of Georgia with participation of the Heads of EU institutions.
