Gela Samkharauli: Parliament considers the extremely important bills for the population

The Agrarian Issues Committee, presided by the First Deputy Chair, Gela Samkharauli, considered and unanimously approved with the II reading the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Agricultural Cooperative.

The Draft was introduced by the First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili, who stated that all remarks made during the first reading were taken into consideration.

The draft law provides authorization for the agricultural cooperatives to carry out other legal activities related to the improvement of the economic and social situation of the cooperative shareholders in addition to agricultural activities.

According to Giorgi Khanishvili, the amendments also enshrine the Tax Code, exempting the dividends received from the agricultural cooperative from tax until January 1, 2023. As for income from other activities, it will be taxed as usual.

As Gela Samkharauli estimates, the Parliament is currently elaborating on extremely important bills, including as the hereby proposed legislative package so the one on the Improvement of Cadastral Data and the Procedure for Systematic and Sporadic Registration of Rights to Plots of Land within the Framework of the State Project.

“These bills are extremely important to our population. Along with the law on cooperatives and the amendments thereof, we have also tabled another acute issue in regards with the land registration process at today’s Plenary Session. With a number of benefits, our population will succeed to earn additional economic income, improve their livelihoods and make their property registration more accessible. Hence, it is important for the Parliament to accomplish its due function, continue its activities and move forward in line with the state development plan”, - Gela Samkharauli noted in response to statements made by opposition representatives asserting about the alleged inexertion of the Parliament.
