Video-Conference between Gigi Tsereteli and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly 28 Apr 2020
Video-Conference between Gigi Tsereteli and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama

The OSCE PA President, Member of the Parliament of Georgia, Gigi Tsereteli held the video-conference with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama.

Pursuant to Prime Minister Rama, amid the outbreak, the executive and legislative branches of the government shall practise the unprecedented cooperation and as the Parliament plays an instrumental role in the COVID-19 crisis, the two prevailing functions, legislative and oversight shall be implemented with no hindrances.

As he added, this is necessary for social trust and to address the just concerns of citizens, without which it would be impossible to cooperate to the desired level for saving the people’s lives.

E. Rama also dwelt on the situation in the OSCE region, the organization's adaptation and activities, as well as the situation in Albania and the measures taken in this regard.

G. Tsereteli remarked that the unity and coordination of the OSCE institutions, mobilization of the necessary assistance in the fight against the pandemic, protection of proportional measures, democracy and human rights in emergency situations are extremely important for now.

Georgian MP also stressed the importance of effective cooperation for the rapid recovery of the economy in the post-crisis period.

The parties emphasized the grave situation and increased threats in conflict zones, occupied territories, IDPs and migrant settlements, especially in Georgia and Ukraine, where this situation cannot be used to intensify discrimination, deepen illegal annexation or weaken international monitoring.

Prime Minister Rama took part in the OSCE PA Bureau video-session, which was chaired by the President, Gigi Tsereteli.
