The sittings in Rustavi on the Rights of Children

Media and Society 22 Mar 2021
The sittings in Rustavi on the Rights of Children

The Chair of the Permanent Child Protection Council, Ana Buchukuri and Rustavi Single Mandate MP Nino Latsabidze, accompanied by the Deputy Health Minister, Tamila Barkalaia visited the Day Care Center and the Orphanage in Rustavi and heard information about the Day Care services and the preventive measures.

As noted, the central and local authorities collaborate to ensure the immediate response to the needs of the children and to improve the family care services.

“Protection of rights of the children is one of the key priorities and our working meeting today and the visit of the respective facilities serve for this goal. It is noteworthy that the communication with Rustavi Municipality allows to better regulate the state and municipal services on the improvement of the conditions for the children in Rustavi. Every entity working on child protection shall effectively hold its activity and ensure communication between each other”, - N. Latsabidze stated.

The visit to the Day Care Centers and the importance of cooperation with the local municipalities were highly estimated by A. Buchukuri: “We strive to visit the Day Care Centers to get cognizant of the services they provide for the minors. We will discuss the challenges with Rustavi Mayor and respective services to be addressed at the first stage. As you may know, the Child Code has just been recently adopted and now, it is critical to ensure its proper enforcement. We aspire to render assistance to the municipalities in effective fulfillment of their obligations”, - she stated.

After the visit, MPs held the meeting with Rustavi Mayor and discussed the obligations of the Municipality on child protection and agreed on cooperation directions.
