The sitting of the Faction “Georgian Dream”
At the beginning of the sitting, the Chair of the Faction Mamuka Mdinaradze welcomed the candidates and dwelt on the procedures of the sitting. “Today, we hold the sitting of the Faction to discuss the strategic issues of the Governmental program. For two days we have held the meetings within the Committee dedicated to consideration of the candidates. More than 200 questions have been asked, including critical. We have held discussions and thorough conversations. We will have the opportunity to resume the discussions at the plenary session tomorrow”, - he noted and gave the floor to Giorgi Gakharia, the candidate for the Prime Minister who introduced the main directions of the Governmental program, foreign and domestic challenges, socio-economic situation and the future perspectives.
“As you may know, 2020 was a very difficult and grave year for us all and first of all for our citizens. The global pandemic has put all the state institutions to the test and we all realize that 2021 will be also grave and full of challenges, which increases the responsibility of the Government and the Parliament. Unfortunately, we do not have healthy opposition yet. We all know that it will be complicated to work without the opposition providing the challenges we encounter – the global pandemic, economic crisis and the political processes. We shall realize that when our citizens went to vote in the elections, about 2 million persons thus imposed the greatest responsibility and obligations to us. So, we all shall understand that we will have to ensure efficiency of our activity. The Government will do its best to fully exercise the Governmental program “Construction of European State” introduced to the Parliament as the paramount goal of the country and the dream to be able to apply for the full-fledged EU membership for 2024, which shall be completely substantiated. It covers various dimensions of the development – democratization, economic safety etc. which are the integral parts of the program”.
He answered the questions of MPs concerning the pandemic, vaccination, infrastructural projects, geopolitical issues of the region and relations with the strategic partners, as well as the national security, political dialogue, education, economy, environment etc.
The Parliament will discuss the vote of confidence to the Government at the extraordinary session on December 24.
