The Council heard the report on the implementation of the Action Plan for 2017-2020 and discussed the new Action Plan.

"Today, in the format of the Gender Equality Council, we will discuss the report of the action plan for 2017-2020 and based on these issues, we will develop an outline of the action plan for 2021. It will be important for the Council to adopt and approve the Action Plan in a timely manner, as many pressing issues have become very topical recently”, - Nino Tsilosani, Chair of the Gender Equality Council, stated.

The NDI representative, Teona Kufunia, introduced the report on the implementation of the Action Plan for 2017-2020.

"The work on the final evaluation report has recently been completed and gives a very good picture of what achievements and challenges the Council had and what recommendations we have in this regard.

The evaluation is based on about 30 individual interviews with various stakeholders, including MPs, donors, as well as a review of public documents that were either drafted by the Council or created at the Council”, - the rapporteur noted and spoke in detail about the achievements, challenges and recommendations of the Gender Equality Council in 2017-2020.

According to her, Transparency International - Georgia gave one of the most positive assessments to the Council in the IX Term Parliament.

According to N. Tsilosani, the sitting reflected a very thorough analysis of the action plan, which gives a clear idea of where additional efforts are needed to be directed.

Discussing the new action plan, the members of the Gender Equality Council decided that first of all, the Action Plan 2021 needs to be elaborated and address the issues that could not be completed and then it should be followed with the Action Plan 2022-2024.
