The Chair of the Defense and Security Committee,Irakli Beraia held the meeting with the Ambassador of Germany, H.E. Hubert Knirsch to discuss the situation in the occupied regions and the regional security, as well as the EU and NATO integration of Georgia and Georgia-Germany cooperation in the defense and security sphere.

The Ambassador expressed strong support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty and Georgia.

The parties touched upon the active engagement of Germany in implementation of NATO-Georgia essential package initiatives.

I. Beraia underlined the importance and necessity of enhancement and development of the cooperation between the Defense Committees of the Georgian Parliament and the Bundestag and the engagement of Germany in the Georgian-German Forum established in the Parliament.

He introduced the priorities of the Committee and dwelt on the main directions of the activity.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chair of the Committee, Vladimir Chachibaia and the Defense Attaché of Germany, Lars Ukerwitz.
