The Majority Leader, Irakli Kobakhidze and the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze held the meeting with the German MP, Political Secretary of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, Roderich Kiesewetter.

The parties touched upon the special role of Georgia in the NATO mission in Afghanistan. According to the German MP, Georgian Defense Divisions are dignified with high professionalism, for which he thanked the Georgian people and especially the Georgian soldiers.

As he noted, the professionalism of the Georgian Army is yet another argument for Georgia to become a NATO member. The parties noted the high level of bilateral relations, which shall be further enhanced in the post-pandemic period.

“We overviewed the EU integration actions. As the German MP noted, the EU has to demonstrate additional efforts to provide Georgia with more instruments in this process. Germany supports the ambitious plans of Georgia to undertake the European reforms and become a full-fledged EU member”, - N. Samkharadze noted.
