The Speaker, Kakha Kuchava met with the President of the EU Parliament, David Maria Sassoli to discuss the current processes, Georgia’s EU-NATO integration and the existing challenges of the country.

The parties expanded on Georgia’s plan to submit a formal application for EU membership in 2024.

The conversation encompassed the local self-government elections scheduled for 2021 and the importance of active involvement of international observers.

According to the President of the European Parliament, he is committed to visiting Georgia shortly after the elections.

David Maria Sassoli reaffirmed his intact support for Georgia's western aspirations.
