Kakhaber Kutchava: we raise the initiative to set up the Interim Fact-Finding Commission on Elections 2020

Kakhaber Kutchava: we raise the initiative to set up the Interim Fact-Finding Commission on Elections 2020

The Vice-Speaker, Kakhaber Kutchava at the briefing stated that the “Georgian Dream” initiates the set-up of the Interim Fact-Finding Commission on Elections 2020: “In response to the ungrounded propaganda by the opposition concerning the elections, we initiate the set-up of the Interim Fact-Finding Commission to investigate the Elections 2020 and give the legal and substantiated answers to all the accusations. Hence, we raise the initiative to set up the Interim Fact-Finding Commission on Elections 2020 to once again thoroughly study the competitive elections held in the free environment and recognized as legitimate by the international society”, - he noted.

According to him, the Commission in cooperation with all subjects concerned, international partners, experts, political parties and respective organizations, shall ensure the complete assessment of the elections by means of various instruments, including the recalculation of the poll results.

“The Chairman of the Party, Irakli Kobakhidze simultaneously with the negotiations with the opposition stated that in case of the detection of even 1% deviation from the returns in favor of the “Georgian Dream”, the party is committed to announce the snap elections, though we still believe that the deviation will not be detected”.

The “Georgian Dream” offered to the opposition to calculate the poll results, use the surveillance cams in the polls and hold the public debates: “However, the answer to all three offers was negative. Moreover, the opposition started the insulting campaign, attacks on the international organizations and our Western partners and actions against the will of the people. The fact is that the so-called opposition is driven by other objectives against the democratic and constitutional order and use sabotage trying to revise the choice made by the Georgian citizens. Despite this, we are committed to engage the international and local experts and reconsider every detail related to the Parliamentary elections 2020. Every party concerned, opposition members urging that the elections were fraud will have the opportunity within the Commission to in a legal manner confirm their arguments”.

This initiative serves as yet another test for the boycotting opposition, showering their accusations to justify their defeat and achieve own destructive goals.

“Thus, I call on everyone to be engaged in the activity of the Commission and submit the facts and evidence to the accusations or apologize to society for misleading it by their propaganda”, - he added.
