Levan Koberidze: Vaccination helps prevent the new, even stronger outbreak of COVID-19 in Georgia

Levan Koberidze: Vaccination helps prevent the new, even stronger outbreak of COVID-19 in Georgia

"Vaccination is salvation and some prevention to prevent the new, even stronger wave of COVID-19 in Georgia with an increased number of lethal cases", - Levan Koberidze told the media after a meeting with health experts.

According to him, the main problem that the health sector will face soon is the approach of the seasonal flu season and its overlapping with the COVID-19, which may turn into a very serious problem for our population.

"These viruses are characterized by the same symptoms, similar manifestations, and therefore in the hospital and primary health care sector we do not rule out the possibility of confusion in the flow of patients, which may lead to very serious consequences", - L. Koberidze added.

Pursuant to him, this issue has been discussed at the meeting with the health experts, where they expressed their views and concerns regarding the deficiency of vaccines (up to 135 000 pcs) imported to Georgia for the high risk-groups such as doctors, pedagogues, police, etc.

"It is very important to recommend the Ministry of Health to take care of the introduction of seasonal flu vaccines in the country as soon as possible and to start active agitation with the population about the use of these vaccines, because there is some suspicion that the special groups will try to spread the allegations as if this vaccine is "evil" for humans. On the contrary, now vaccination is salvation and some prevention so that the epidemic of COVID-19 does not outbreak even more strongly in Georgia”, - Levan Koberidze stated.
