The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze held the meeting with the Ambassador of Lithuania, H.E. Andrius Kalindras to discuss the friendly and partnership relations and cooperation aspects between the countries.
Special attention was paid to environmental protection and natural resources and sharing of experience between the countries in this regard.
"We discussed the main directions of the new systems of environmental protection and natural resources under the Association Agreement. We introduced the latest reforms that have been carried out at both the state and municipal levels - in terms of environmentally safe transport, proper urban development, landscaping, protected areas and forest protection. The Ambassador expressed his support for further work and noted that resolving environmental and climate change issues and transposing European directives is very important, including in the process of implementing the Association Agreement, which is directly related to the Georgian Dream's main effort to apply for EU membership in 2024. We are confident that the Committee's cooperation with Lietuva will move to a new level. We have talked about many issues in terms of further cooperation, including waste sorting, separation, sharing of experience, as well as working together to strengthen the Committee's capacity", - the Chair of the Committee stated after the meeting.
