Meeting of Giorgi Kakhiani and Givi Mikanadze with Bundestag Delegation of Germany

The Vice Speaker, Giorgi Kakhiani and the Secretary General, Givi Mikanadze held a meeting with the Bundestag Delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany to discuss the annual program implemented by the German Bundestag in the framework of the International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS).
The program provides the opportunity for the young people to take part in a relevant competition and practice in the German Bundestag.
The sides focused on bilateral ties between Georgia and Germany, significant support of Germany to Georgia’s EU aspirations, and issues of cooperation between the two countries in different directions.
“A number of important issues were also highlighted at the meeting, including the importance of our country's relations with Germany and the support Georgia enjoys in foreign affairs from the German side. Representatives of the Bundestag were interested in the political situation in Georgia. We introduced our visions on electoral matters and expressed our utmost commitment to hold the follow-up elections in a free and fair environment”, - the Vice Speaker, Giorgi Kakhiani commented post hoc the meeting.
According to Giorgi Kakhiani, at the request of the Georgian side, the Bundestag Delegation of Germany expressed commitment to provide the opportunity for the staff of the Parliament to participate in the International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) program next year.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Hubert Knirsch.
