Mikheil Sarjveladze and Rati Ionatamishvili Participating in Online Conference on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Members of Parliament Mikheil Sarjveladze and Rati Ionatamishvili participated in an online conference held within the framework of the project "Civil Society for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Georgia".
The conference was also attended by senior officials of Tbilisi and Batumi local self-governments, representatives of the judiciary, local organizations of persons with disabilities and international organizations.
The meeting highlighted the adoption of a new law on the rights of persons with disabilities by the Parliament of Georgia last year and the special importance of the established practice of parliamentary oversight of the implementation of this law, which implies monthly committee hearings on the implementation of the implied obligations.
The project serves to strengthen civil society to ensure the elimination of discrimination against persons with disabilities in the country, improve access to justice and the development of legal services.
The project is implemented with the support of the European Union by the organizations "Human Rights for All" and the “Coalition for Independent Living”.
