Kakha Kuchava, Head of the Permanent Parliamentary Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and Tamar Taliashvili and Levan Ioseliani, Members of the Delegation, met with Andreas Kiefer, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, in Strasbourg during the Session Week of the PACE.

 

The meeting discussed the process of preparation for the upcoming local self-government elections, political situation and the scheduled electoral reform.

 

According to A. Kiefer, the Congress is working to present its opinion regarding the changes in the election legislation of Georgia.

 

The members of the delegation proposed to the Secretary General of the Congress to send an observation mission to monitor the local self-government elections.

 

In connection with this suggestion, A. Kiefer expressed commitment to sending an observation mission of the Congress of the Council of Europe to Georgia in the fall.
