MPs Shota Khabareli and Koba Kobaladze attended the opening ceremony of Badri and Vakhtang Gzirishvili Street – named after the Father and Son fallen for the territorial integrity of Georgia in Samgori district, Region II initiated by Tbilisi City Assembly Denomination and Symbols Commission and on the basis of the decision of Tbilisi Representative Body.
B. Gzirishvili has fallen in the attack of Russian Armed Forces and separatists in the village Tamishi in 1993, and V. Gzirishvili died under the bombing of the village Tbeti by Russian aviation in August 2008 war.
After the opening of the street, the adjacent Vakhtang Gorgasali Church hosted the memorial service for the fallen soldiers.
The event was attended by the Defense Minister, Irakli Garibashvili; Chief of Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili; leading officers of the Defense Forces; Chair of Tbilisi City Assembly, Giorgi Tkemaladze; Chair of the Denomination and Symbols Commission, Tinatin Nibloshvili; City Assembly members; Director of the State Service of Veterans’ Affairs, Vladimir Imnadze; candidate for Samgori Single Mandate MP, Sozar Subari, and the family members of Badri and Vakhtang Gzirishvili.
