The EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee 5th sitting accomplished
The EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee 5th sitting held in Tbilisi accomplished.
During 2 days, Georgian MPs and MEPs considered EUAA agenda issues and adopted the respective recommendations.
Today’s sitting started with introduction of the EUMM activity. the EUMM Acting Head, Erik Hoeeg introduced the presentation of monitoring group activity and the information about the situation and the administration border line.
He spoke about the impediments of monitoring, challenges and tasks for implementation. The parties discussed DCFTA implementation achievements and challenges.
The Deputy Economic Minister, Genadi Arveladze introduced the macro-economic indices, economic growth dynamics and foreign trade turnover indicators. He spoke about the main directions of the economic development plan and Governmental program priorities to improve investment environment and facilitate private sector.
Compared to preceding years, economic growth, start-up simplification conditions, tourism income and Georgian export on European market have significantly improved.
The Deputy Agrarian Minister, Nodar Kereselidze spoke about the facilitation for farmers and entrepreneurs within the Governmental programs. The Ministry is oriented to establishment of cooperatives and development of sector directions to enhance agricultural sphere and ensure economic welfare of the local farmers.
The Deputy State Minister for EU and NATO Integration, Archil Karaulashvili and the Head of EU Delegation Cooperation Department, Vincent Rey delivered the reports.
In the end, the Co-Chairs, Tamar Khulordava and Sajjad Karim resumed the 2-day activity and thanked the Committee members, MPs and executive authority for their participation.
