Georgia and EU are not only in active political relations but enjoy the increasing economic and trade ties based on Georgia-EU free trade agreement. The Resolution reflects intact support to territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. “We have once again took the window of opportunity to express gratitude to European Parliament for intact support it rendered in adoption of the Resolution on Occupied Territories of Georgia. With the statement, we hail the Resolution of Georgian Parliament with the clear call on to the international partners for aid to Georgia in enforcement of justice towards the persons committing the gross crimes against Georgian citizens and enrolled in Otkhozoria-Tatunashvili Act. In this regards, we enjoy the strongest support by European Parliament”, - T. Khulordava noted.
“Our EU integration goal is clear but the road so far is long and difficult which we successfully cover as evidenced with the EU PAC Committee sitting”, - she added.
“The PAC has unanimously adopted the final version of the Resolution, which serves the solid basis for our executive authorities in formation of the future policy as in Georgia so in EU. The EP has clearly expressed its position in the Resolution concerning the Occupied Territories of Georgia after 10 years of Russian aggression. We have once again used the term “occupied territories”, which even stronger evidences EU position towards sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia”, - S. Karim noted.
The PAC has held the meetings with the legislative and executive authorities to discuss democracy, rule of law, ongoing and undertaken reforms.
“Georgian Government plays a very constructive role in implementation of DCFTA. The Government strives to let the Georgian population understand that our relations will result in enhancement of certain obligations and will entail responsibilities towards both parties. EU implements various aspects of cooperation with Georgia. Support of Georgian population and the vision of EU shall correspond to the reality and this support shall remain unchanged for Georgia to keep the European path on the basis of the will of Georgian population”, - he noted.
