In 2021 in the Palace of Parliament of Georgia was opened Ekvtime Takaishvili Museum of Georgian Parliamentarism. The unused space of the basement of bloc “B” of the Palace of Parliament acquired the new mission.

There are many essential documents (their copies), referring to the development of parliamentarism in Georgia and kept in our country’s or in foreign archives and libraries collected in the Museum. Based on the concept of the museum, the exhibition presented there demonstrates the way, which has the Georgian Parliamentarism gone through since the beginning of XX century till today.

It is not a mere coincidence that the Museum is named after Ekvtime Takaishvili. Ekvtime Takaishvili, as a Member of the Constituent Assembly and a Deputy Chairman of this Assembly, was fully involved in the activities of the Parliament of the First Georgian Republic in 1919-1921, as well as after the sovietization of Georgia, when he was residing in emigration.

The Museum’s space is divided and is composed of 1 central hall and 4 exhibition spaces in accordance with the appropriate periods. In the central hall (“Hall of Glory”) the presented materials depict all the crucial events, which were forming a frame for more than a century of the idea on need of existence of the Parliament of Georgia.

4 exhibition spaces of the Museum are dated in compliance with the following principles:

1. The Parliament of Georgia (The Constituent Assembly) in 1918−1921;
2. Activities of the Parliament (The Constituent Assembly) while residing in emigration;
3. The Parliament (The Supreme Council of the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic) in the Soviet period (in 1921−1990);
4. The Parliament (The Supreme Council of the Georgian Republic) in the years of restoration of state independence (in 1990-1991).

In all the spaces of the Museum the visitor might watch thematic films and by the specially installed electronic board is possible to read the biography of the Member of Parliament of each convocation. The space is equipped by modern facilities and is addressed to the public in general.
