The Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Beka Odisharia held the meeting with the Ambassador of Georgia to Ireland, H.E. Giorgi Zurabashvili to discuss the activity of Georgian diaspora organizations in Ireland.

“I am glad to have a working meeting with my friend, experienced diplomat, Ambassador of Georgia to Ireland, H.E. Giorgi Zurabashvili. We overviewed the Georgian diaspora issues. After I have been elected in the 9th Term of the Parliament and was appointed as the Chair of the Diaspora Committee, I held my first meeting with Georgian immigrants in Dublin. It was a very memorable meeting. Georgian diaspora in Ireland was not yet established as a uniform structural unit and now, according to our recommendation, it is a structural organization and closely cooperates with the Georgian Embassy. Correspondingly, we summed up the preceding period and outlined future plans", - B. Odisharia stated after the meeting adding that Ireland, with its political visions, is one of the most interesting European countries.

“Ireland is a non-NATO member state and is one of the greatest beneficiaries of the EU. Hence, its experience is important for us as a model. Georgia and Ireland share so many similarities in terms of the landscape, so in terms of the population, however, unlike Georgia, Ireland has the strongest diaspora, including in the USA. So, it is extremely interesting to cooperate with this country”, - B. Odisharia noted.
