The sitting of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee

Media and Society 26 Apr 2021
The sitting of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee

The Committee discussed the Bill on Entrepreneurs and deriving bills, introduced by one of the initiators, Mikheil Sarjveladze with the I reading.

The Sector Economy Committee and the business sector invited under the aegis of the Committee were engaged in the development of the Bill.

“It is always important to consult with the people that the legal regulations will apply to. Naturally, the dialogue with them is of the utmost importance”, - the reporter stated and dwelt on the necessity of the Bill: the existing Law on Entrepreneurs adopted in 1994 is outdated despite various amendments and fails to meet the modern challenges.

The increase of the corporate relations capacity and complication, as well as the rapid development of the business sector entailed the development of the new regulations adjusted to the modern requirements and challenges. The Bill enhances the role of the Law in entrepreneurial relations and the principles of the authorized autonomy while regulating the application of such autonomy.

The sitting was attended by the business associations and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Deriving from the relevancy of the issue, the reporter answered the questions.

The Committee approved the Bill. According to the Chair, David Songulashvili,  “This Bill is initiated very timely. Various subjects have expressed their remarks during the working meetings, which will be delivered to the authors and discussed at the II reading”.

The Deputy Finance Minister, Zurab Dznelashvili introduced the Convention between Georgia and Japan on Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion.

The reporter also introduced the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion between Georgia and the Special Administrative Region of China – Hong Kong.

The Committee approved the documents.

According to D. Songulashvili, deriving from the relevancy of the energy sphere, the Committee opted to set up the Scientific-Advisory Council on Energy Problems.

The documents on composition and activity of the Council were delivered to MPs.

The Committee approved the issue.
