The meeting of Dimitri Khundadze with the Japanese Ambassador

Media and Society 22 Feb 2021
The meeting of Dimitri Khundadze with the Japanese Ambassador

The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Dimitri Khundadze held the meeting with the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Akira Imamura to discuss the bilateral relations and cooperation prospects.

The parties dwelt on the domestic and foreign policy priorities and stressed the ongoing political situation and challenge Georgia encounters.

The parties overviewed certain opportunities and new directions of cooperation.

“The meeting was very interesting. We discussed the global challenges, political situation in the country and naturally, stressed the pandemic problem and vaccination process. It is important that Japan has invested 200 ml USD in the COVAX platform, where various countries including Georgia may enjoy the aid. Japan undertakes the second line of aid program envisaging the provision of medical equipment. On the basis of my appeal, the Ambassador expressed the commitment to providing the medical equipment to Ksovrisi Ambulance at the Akhalgori occupation line. Naturally, we dwelt on the political issues and mitigation of polarization in Georgia by the international support. We touched upon the function of the facilitators in the approximation of the parties. The diplomats give a real estimation of the situation in Georgia stating that political stability is necessary for the protection of the rule of law. He hoped that the position and the opposition will manage to return to the negotiations and find the compromise without the ultimatums”, - D. Khundadze stated.
