A Europe Week dedicated to Europe Day was open in collaboration with the EU Integration Committee and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Maka Bochorishvili, Chair of the EU Integration Committee and Jonathan Novak, Deputy Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation addressed the participants with welcoming speeches.
Students from various Georgian universities will take part in EU Enlargement Simulation negotiations during the week.
A final event will be held in the Parliament of Georgia on May 15, within the framework of which students will take part in the modeled debates of the European Parliament.
The 8 winning students of European Week, with the support of the Foundation, will pay a study visit to the EU institutions in Brussels.
"Celebrating Europe Day is not just a beautiful tradition, it is a good opportunity to express our commitment and appreciation of the values on which the European Union is based. Unity and peace, which is the greatest achievement of the European Union, require daily work and protection. Membership in the European family, which is based on our common values, is a strategic goal of Georgia. In 2024, we shall take a significant step on this path by applying for EU membership. I wish you to be the youth who will be actually involved in Georgia's EU accession negotiations and apply the knowledge gained today to Georgia's EU membership”, - M. Bochorishvili stated at the opening of European Week.
Europe Week is being held in a virtual mode due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
