The new reservoir shall be soon constructed in Ilto Gorge with the state initiative and support by donor organizations.

More than 0.5 ml GEL has been already allocated for the pre-design works to be called soon. The next stage envisages drafting on the basis of the environmental impact assessment and technical-economic plan. The reservoir with 118 m. height and 200 ha of area will be built in the village Chartali, Akhmeta Municipality.

The area was visited by Akhmeta Single Mandate MP, Gela Samkharauli and the newly elected Mayor of the city, Ioseb Karumashvili, along with the Head of Melioration Office of the Agrarian Ministry, Archil Bukia.

“Construction of Ilto reservoir is an important project with various positive impacts. It is in direct connection with improvement of socio-economic condition of the village residents. The reservoir will aim to supply water, irrigate the territories and regulate the energy processes, which is vital for creation of touristic-recreational zone in the Gorge and new job opportunities. It is the project of the century included into our pre-electoral promises and important for Kakheti region”, - G. Samkharauli stated.
