Guguli Magradze attending the sitting of the Inter-Agency Commission for Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence

The member of the Gender Equality Council, Guguli Magradze attended the 2nd sitting of the Inter-Agency Commission for Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence hosted in the Governmental Administration.

The sitting was as well attended by the Commission members, Public Defender officers and international organizations.

The Deputy Justice Minister, Gocha Lortkipanidze and the Chief of the Human Rights Secretariat, Natalia Jaliashvili opened the sitting.

The Head of the GEC Thematic Inquiry Group (TIG) on “Accessibility to Vocational Education for Economic Empowerment of Women”, Guguli Magradze addressed the attendees and delivered the report on the GEC activities.

She stressed importance of GIA establishment and development of the pay-gap calculation method. In regards with the legislative activity, she introduced the information about the legal changes on sexual harassment and the changes to the organic law on Labor Code. She touched upon economic development of women and introduced the recent recommendations by the TIG.

“Education and accessibility thereto are in direct connection with individual power and economic strength of the country. Vocational education, in its turn, constitutes the significant chance for self-realization and the shortest way for employment and poverty eradication method lies through vocational skills and their application. Hence, economic stability of women facilitates to empowerment of the society and the state economy”, - she underlined.

The Commission introduced the priority directions for 3 months and the scheduled activities.
