Meeting of Irakli Beraia with Razvan Rotundu

Meeting of Irakli Beraia with Razvan Rotundu

The Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, Irakli Beraia, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Georgia, Razvan Rotundu to discuss the further deepening of the existing partnership between the two countries and the prospects for future cooperation.

The parties expanded on strengthening parliamentary relations between friendly countries, including co-operation between the Defense and Security Committees.

"Romania is a partner country of Georgia, which strongly supports our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, EU and NATO integration. Romania is the first country to have recognized Georgia's independence in 1991. It is the first country to ratify the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union, and we appreciate that very much”, - I. Beraia commented.

According to the Committee Chair, Georgia and Romania are closely cooperating with each other.

"This is especially true in the field of defense. Romania is actively involved in the implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, works closely with Georgia on Black Sea security, and is represented by dozens of observers in the EU Monitoring Mission. It was a very fruitful meeting. I will be glad to see my Romanian colleagues in Georgia and also to visit Bucharest at the earliest opportunity”, - I. Beraia stated.
