Meeting of Chair of Faction “Our Georgia – Independent MPs”, Mariam Jashi with Ambassador of Italy

Mariam Jashi, Chairwoman of the Faction "Our Georgia - Independent Members of the Parliament", held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Georgia, H.E. Enrico Valvo.
The Chair introduced the information at her disposal in relation to the Election Day to the Ambassador and touched upon the process of counting of votes. M. Jashi also expressed her concern regarding the ongoing processes in the country.
"At the meeting, I reiterated to the Italian Ambassador that our party does not recognize the election results, and refrains from joining the protest by choosing the path of dialogue with the diplomatic corps and the media statements.
I asked the Ambassador that the diplomatic corps should continue to play an active role in finding a way out of this crisis. There is an unprecedented experience of the March 8 Agreement, when the diplomatic corps played the most important role as a facilitator, and I believe Georgia has yet encountered a problem that can be unraveled with the active involvement of the diplomatic corps. I think the process should go from the street to the negotiating table", - Mariam Jashi remarked post hoc the meeting.
According to the Georgian politician, the Italian ambassador confirmed to be online with all major political players and the entire diplomatic corps is actively monitoring the developments after the elections, as well as the daily situation in the country, about which they will draw their own conclusions.
Mariam Jashi is also planning to hold a video meeting with the OSCE/ODIHR representative on these issues today.
