Meeting of Levan Koberidze with Participants of Summer Student Job Programs in Germany

Independent Members of Parliament 28 ივლისი 2020
Meeting of Levan Koberidze with Participants of Summer Student Job Programs in Germany

Deputy Chairman of the faction Independent Members of Parliament, Levan Koberidze met with a group of students participating in the summer job programs in Germany.

The initiative group is composed of several thousand students from different higher education institutions of Georgia who participate in a 3-month employment program and regularly travel to Germany for prearranged jobs during the summer vacations. However, COVID-19 did pose a problem for these young people as well, causing many of them to have cancelled pre-purchased air tickets at an affordable price.

It is noteworthy that with the joint efforts of the government structures, the first charter flight was performed on July 25 and part of the students left for Germany. Levan Koberidze especially emphasized the contribution of the Speaker Archil Talakvadze in solving the problem of the youth.

"After our first meeting with the students, when I raised this issue in the Parliament, the Speaker immediately responded to it and with the inclusion of the Economic Minister Natia Turnava and the Youth Department, around 170 students left for Germany at an affordable price. This will allow the youth to earn through honest work and consume on their studies", - Levan Koberidze remarked.

Despite this specific flight, there are quite a number of students (approximately 500 students) from both higher education institutions and colleges who have received Summer Work Travel Visa and are still expected by their employers.

At the meeting, L. Koberidze promised the students that after resolving the organizational issues, he will continue to support and raise the issue with government agencies to help the students schedule a charter flight to Germany as needed.

L. Koberidze hopes that everyone will continue to treat this issue with the same care as in the previous case and the state will spare no efforts to support the youth.
