Meeting of Genadi Margvelashvili with UNICEF Representative in Georgia, Ghassan Khalil
The Chair of the Education, Science and Culture Committee, Genadi Margvelashvili met with the UNICEF Representative in Georgia, Ghassan Khalil to discuss the issues of preschool and general education and the challenges therefrom.
“The 9th Term Parliament has embarked on the challenge of the list of preschools according to which kindergartens should be authorized. Under decentralization, this was mainly distributed among municipalities, but unfortunately this has not been done yet and for some reason was subject to postponement. Passing the authorization covers different requirements: healthcare, infrastructure, HR, standardization of preschool preparedness for 5 and 6-year-old children, infrastructure spaces, etc”, - G. Margvelashvili remarked.
The parties also discussed the existing challenges and the new school model. According to the Chair of the Committee, the Governments strives to introduce the New School Model to all schools countrywide.
“The New School Model implies active thinking of the child rather than complete attachment to the teacher. Our objective is to provide the child with talent and then give them the opportunity to its realization”, - Genadi Margvelashvili commented.
