The Chair of the Sports and Youth Issues Committee, Mikheil Kavelashvili and the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office, Gogita Todradze met to table the beginning of the preparatory work on the keeping of economic dimension and statistical data in sports.

As M. Kavelashvili noted, the Committee has conducted a number of studies and thematic works on the role of sports in the development of the country. At the meeting, the parties discussed the preparation of a methodology for processing statistical data on the share of sports in the development of the economy and noted the need to share international experience.

"Studying the dimension of the share of sports in the economy is one of the priorities of the Committee's strategic plan. For this, in the first stage it is necessary to keep statistics and introduce statistical methodologies in order to maximize the potential of sports in the development of the economy. At the meeting, we deliberated the issues of further cooperation with the representative of GEOSTAT and talked about the importance of starting record keeping and statistics", - the Chair remarked.
