Nino Goguadze participating in the sitting of the International Committee on Disinformation
Nino Goguadze serves the visit to Dublin to participate in the enlarged sitting of the Committee on Disinformation and False News serving as the parliamentary cooperation platform between the countries.
MPs discuss respective challenges in their countries and the joint cooperation with the larger social networks. The sitting was attended by the representatives of the administrations of Google, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube to answer the questions.
N. Goguadze dwelt on Facebook’s methods to protect the users from cyber-attacks, about its policy when a country, based on political motive, exposes cyber-attack to another country, and about the policy thereof for cooperation with smaller countries.
“Disinformation and false news pose the threat as for Georgia so for our partner states, and this was the ground for establishment of the International Parliamentary Committee to ensure accountability of the social networks and to undertake effective policy against disinformation and false news. I had the floor at the sitting to speak with the Vice-President of Facebook, Monica Bickert about Facebook protecting the users from cyber-attacks when one country exposes the cyber-attack against another on the political basis, as well about the policy for cooperation with the smaller countries. This format allows us cooperating with the social networks about challenges in Georgia and ask for the response”, - she noted.
The platform has been established in 2017 with the initiative of Great Britain and unifies the Parliaments of Great Britain, USA, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Estonia, Finland, Singapore and Brazil.
